I can tell you I wasn't too happy this morning when my phone woke me up at 7.30 - after 5 hours of sleep. Okay it was partly my own fault as I couldn't go to bed earlier, but once I did, I still couldn't sleep. My morning also included make-up problems and clothing problems so I was a bit late for school, once again (but after this kind of morning I'm proud of the fact that I actually made it to the school!). And by the way, that's one bad habit I've adopted here in Spain - being late for school.

I've always been quite punctual with school in Finland. Before starting to study in Laurea University of Applied Sciences, I was always on time - seriously, every day. Sometimes I had to run to school because I didn't want to be late. In Laurea, there's the issue called public transportation. I hate the fact that I'm dependent on buses to get to the school. Because of them I've been late a few times. Not often, but still a few times. And here? Everyone's late. If you go to school 5 minutes before the class, the room is probably empty. The teachers don't usually care if people come late - they also come late. I've seen people coming 45 minutes late and the teachers haven't said anything. Of course there are exceptions - one of my teachers is very strict about the timings (I'm never late for his lectures :-D). He usually doesn't let people in after he has started the lecture and I can't blame him - if I was the teacher, I would be irritated because of all the people opening and shutting the door after the lecture has began. But my point is that people are not very punctual here and I've also adopted that habit. For me it's usually 5 to 15 minutes - not 45 minutes as for some people - but I still have to get rid of the habit before going back to Finland!

Well. After the class I stayed at school and tried get some Spanish economy stuff done but my work wasn't very successful. When I was leaving I ran into Nina and stayed there still a while with her. On my way home I was taking some random pictures (as you can see) and one guy thought that I took a picture of him and came to ask me if I wanted him to take a picture of me. I refused and kept on walking. Well, he followed me and asked where I was from, why I was taking pictures, who I am, do I like Spain, how long I've been in Valencia ... and so on. He was funny, laughed all the time. He was quite new in Valencia, from Barcelona, doing some final project etc. here. He kept on asking about Finland and called me "his new Finnish friend" after a few minutes, weird people around here! haha. I agreed to probably have a coffee with him some day.

By the way, apparently I took the wind with me from Málaga! I wonder how my windows are still in place as it's been so windy today and yesterday. I wish tomorrow would be better because we have planned on going to the beach!

The last few days were the best-weather-days during our vacation.
On Monday the main thing was to see el Castillo de Gibralfaro, an ancient fortress on a mountain. It isn't surprising that the castle is one of the main attractions in Málaga. The entrance fee was just about 2,20e and it was definitely worth visiting. The views were amazing and that was definitely the best place from were you could see all the city and the Mediterranean sea.

The last night's dinner was magnificent and I have to admit that I've never eaten that expensively. But it was perfect! When walking back to the hotel, we saw some crazy swans and gooses that bullied the dissimilar one.. Apparently animals can be very mean to each other too!

Tuesday was the check-out day. We checked out from the hotel by 12.00 but we still left our luggage there as the hotel had a day-storage service. That was very good because there were no need to go to the airport before 6pm. On Tuesday it was definitely the best weather. After breakfast we spent a few hours on the beach and then a few hours on a terrace. The sun was shining and it was perfect - except for the fact that it was the last day :-( We took a taxi to the airport at 6pm but we still had to wait for the check-in desks to open before we could move on through the security control to the shopping area. Time passed quickly and too soon it was time for boarding. My flight left a bit earlier than J's but luckily we were able to be together as long as possible as both of our flights left from the D-gate. God I hate goodbyes. It was terrible to leave in January, it was terrible to leave again. But I tried to think of it like "first I have to leave so that I can come back". And that's true - the next time I'll fly, my destination will be Helsinki. Two months to go.
P.S. I'm not saying that I don't like to be here. I'm saying that I don't like to be apart from J and from some other people. My life is now in Spain and I love Spain. My home is here in Valencia for now and I wouldn't be ready to go back to Finland yet.

windy Málaga, pictures part III

Yesterday was a rainy day, we went to a shopping street and visited Picasso museum (for those who didn't know - Picasso was born here in Málaga). I'm not that into art and culture but I liked the museum, it was interesting and definitely worth visiting (O, are you proud of me??).

Today we went to Alcazaba of Málaga. It was a lot like Granada's Alhambra, just smaller.
There's just one thing that I'd like to know - is it always this windy in Málaga?! Everyday (except for yesterday when it was raining) it's been windy as h*ll, which makes the weather feel colder than it actually is without the wind. Irritating.

Málaga pictures, part II

Today I got the long-needed crêpe for breakfast - and it was worth all the craving! We also walked a lot as we went to Jardín Botánico-Histórico de Malaga (located a bit further away from the city center). The place was very beautiful and I recommend going there if you go to Malaga, it was completely worth seeing! After all we were on the move 'til the evening, so we were exhausted as we got back to the hotel, and decided to try our hotel's dinner menu (including drinks, entrées, main courses and desserts). I guess the menu was successful as we were completely full as we finished! It was so good. Like yesterday (in a restaurant called Casa Jaime) - I guess I haven't praised that one yet, it was one of the best dinners I've eaten in my life. I'm getting spoiled!
